We are a small family run business with Customer satisfaction high on our list of priorities. Garry is the sole proprietor of the business and is the one that is in sole charge of the buying & build of all of our horseboxes & the work carried out on customers lorries. Our business employs 3 staff, Steven, Alan, and myself (Jill - the wife)who tries very hard to keep the paperwork in relatively good order. We like to think that we give the customer exactly what they want from their horsebox, therefore most of our boxes are bespoke to the customers requirements, whether it be a 2 horse 3.5 tonne lorry or a 6 horse Scania with full luxury living.
We had a milk & newspaper business for over 25 years and horses was just a hobby, however the business started when we bought a horse that would not load into our trailer, therefore we bought a Bedford cab chassie and an old wooden container to fit onto it. This solved the problem of getting the horse to events, however Garry being Garry then sold the lorry to a friend who wanted to buy it. So another lorry was bought, and guess what, he sold that too.
We found that whatever lorry we built there always seemed to be someone that wanted to buy it. So I went back to the trailer (sold the horse) and Garry started to build horseboxes.
Having been in our local pony club (Newcastle & District) from an early age, I represented the pony club on the mounted games, Event, Show jumping & Dressage teams, qualifying for the PC championships at Stonleigh for the Horse Trials. I then went on to compete at BSJA show jumping and eventually got struck by the eventing bug much to my mothers dismay. We have trailed the country from Scotland to Lincolnshire competing from Pre novice to Intermediate level at different events, and I would not have changed a single thing about it all. The highlight of my horsey career was to compete at Burgie event where I rode round my first steeple chase course and was absolutely terrified. However the horse I rode was extremely bold across country and gave me a fabulous ride.
This is a change
We have trailed the country with our youngest daughter and her ponies doing a lot of pony club (Braes of Derwent South) and as all pony club mums know, we have good days & bad days. Anna’s highlight at an early age was being placed 3rd at the pony club area dressage competition at only 6 years of age, she also qualified for the PC Dengie Dressage Championships in 2012,13,14,15 & 2016 and has been placed in the top 5 every year (fingers crossed for this year as she is competing at open level). Anna & her pony Bumble are currently PC intermediate Music champions scoring a massive 82% at the PC championships. Anna started competing at British Dressage in 2014 and was selected for the BYRDS teams at Keysoe and Sheepgate and also the Home International. In 2015 Anna moved onto horses and now rides Jolianna, a 16.1hh irish sport horse. In their first year of competing they have moved upto elementary level, schooling at Medium level and have represented The Northern Region for the Inter Regionals, Home International and Sheepgate in their first year as a partnership.
We hunt with the Braes of Derwent Hunt and i have decided that the hunt flask is now much more appealing than the ‘’huge’’ jumps that seem to appear all too often. Anna also has the bug for hunting & looks forward to next season
